Dr. Hammel frequently presents sessions regarding students with differences and disabilities in the music classroom at state and national conferences. She is also available to present in-services for schools and school districts. Topics of discussion can include: types of differences and disabilities (ADHD, Asperger syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, communication disorder, emotional disturbance, behavioral disabilities, intellectually gifted, musically gifted, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, cognitive differences, pervasive development disorder, physical disabilities, severe & multiple disabilities, traumatic brain injury, victims of abuse, visual impairment, and other health impairments), legislation & litigation, considerations for inclusion, disability awareness, research-based strategies for an inclusive classroom, and more.
